Thanx Wild Koba and Matt. I too came for the name and became an instant fan. Echo to all those below. I am playing Wild Hoga and Elizabeth Reed on my radio show tomorrow. Peace

Hey now
Ever since I got into streaming music on the Archive I stopped downloading. But this one I'm downloading for sure. So cool. The Meters cover (2nd track) is great, they got a similar sound but faster and more punky. And the name is awesome.

This was a random click for me, probably the most fortunate one I've ever made. Honestly, this is the best band no one's ever heard. Great Download.

This is what I was looking for!!!!!!
I thought that the musical landscape has been pretty flat for the last 10 years or so. And saying it is flat is being kind. Then, here comes Afroskull. WOW! Elements of jazz, blues, rock, and punk rolled into their own style. They do some covers, but they make them their own. They are creative and expert musicians which results in exciting, wonderful music. The name drew me in and music hooked me.

If you like Afroskull, check out the Antibalas Afrobeat Orchestra. More horns and more politics.

the name did it for me
I said what the #! is Afroskull? This, I've got to check out. Well now I have, and I'm glad I did. I don't know what I expected, but it wasn't this. Perfect for the next late-night bongo dance party! I need to see this band live! Nice recording job as well. Another great band the archive introduced me to. Thanks archive.

I had never heard...
of these guys before, so I just randomly picked this show and downloaded it. What a pleasant surprise! from the get-go, this show is very well played and extremely funky. I love a good horn section. The sound quality is awesome, and the liz reed finale is smokin'! This is well worth the dl.

Listen to those horns!
I was looking to try a new band tonight, and it was essential to me that it had derivatives so I could stream the show.. I liked the name of this band and tried this show randomly.. Wow! I'm a new fan.. the recording is AMAZING quality, and could easily be an official release for the band. All instruments are super clear and the crowd noise is barely there between songs.. The show quality is awesome. These cats know how to jam and get funky. And not in a 'jam-band' way. I personally hate the sound of the typical jam band and this isn't that at all! very smokey jazz club / groove night vibe from this band. THere's so many horns, i love it! A great show to just put on and groove to while you're doing other things.. I hope they tour so. california soon, it seems they are doing a once a month thing now in NYC... Grab this, you'll love it!

En fuego!!!!
What a grrrreat show! I have been seeing these guys off and on for about 2 years and they are taking it to a new level for 2005. They have a new horn section, which adds a level of sound that is just scandalous. One of the things I love about these guys is that they play mostly original songs, with a nice peppering of covers. There's Zappa influence in there, which I like. And for a crew of white guys, they really drop the funk. ;-) A fine example of that would be a new song, Spyplane. Good times. My only beef is that Parkside doesn't give much space for dancing, and in particular this night the place was packed. But the heads were bobbin', mine included. I'm notoriously known for my love of bass, so check out some of the solos from their bassist. He is sickee sick. They all are. This show is definitely going into my iPod!

Good Stuff
I know these guys as the official band or the Randi Rhodes show. So I when I saw them on the archive I figured if they were good enough for the goddess then they were worth a listen.
Thank god I did. These guys are super fun. If you love funk and you dig horns like I do then pick up this show. The recording is very nice.
Tons of Funky Funky Jams. I will see these guys live if I ever get a chance. If you are looking for some fun new music give this a listen!

Yow!
These guys are on fire! Ferocious funk/jazz/rock. Great playing. Sound quality is slightly better on this show than the 2005-01-07 one but they're both worth downloading. (Energy level might even be a bit higher on the 01-07 show, if that's possible.)
Note: at least in the 64kb-MP3 zip-file version the sequence is off--"Elizabeth Reed" is the first track up (Nice Allman Brothers cover, by the way) so the other titles are most likely off as well
